Still need a little convincing?

We asked some of our speakers and attendees what invaluable things they’ve learned and experienced at past WordCamps – why it is that they keep coming back year after year for more WordCamp goodness.  Here are some of their responses:

Almost everyone attending WordCamps is there for many of the same reasons I am.

Most everyone is open to meeting new people in the community. All it takes is 20 seconds of courage.

I learned that hosting is just as important as your code.

The people I meet at WordCamps are some of my best friends in the world.

At WordCamp I learned that others have already solved problems I am struggling to figure out on my own.

I’ve learned incredible things about how to run a successful web development business.  Being able to connect to people further along in their careers has been invaluable, and the business talks have provided me with actionable advice and new tools to improve my process and grow my business.

WordCamps have shown me that the community is infinitely supportive. So if you have a question or need help, just ask.

WordCamp speakers, volunteers, and attendees are invested in supporting others and helping them to grow.

No matter how much you *think* you know about WordPress there is always someone who knows something that you don’t.

Attending a WordCamp gave me a better grasp on website security – it’s more than just having a strong password, and I’m not sure I would have gotten that as quickly without the great talk I attended.

None of us has everything figured out and there’s always something new to learn.

You don’t have to be an expert to have something to contribute.

I learned that I wasn’t the most inexperienced person working with WordPress.

Not everybody is an expert, yet we all have something to contribute.  What you learned today someone else still doesn’t know.

At WordCamp I learned that the future of web design is about more than just building a mobile responsive website.

WordPress meetups and WordCamp talks have made me a better developer – being self-taught is great, but can only take you so far.  At WordPress events, I’ve learned big things like how to develop locally and use Git to version control my development, to small code tricks and refinements that speed up my process and have made my final product better.

Clearly, there’s a long list of reasons to attend a WordCamp.  Want to read more?  Check out these blog posts from past attendees of WordCamp Denver:

5 Reasons You Can’t Miss WordCamp Denver

On Monday, we introduced the last round of speakers and we officially unveiled the schedule for WordCamp Denver.

This year’s WordCamp is looking better than ever and tickets are going fast!  Just one question: have you bought your ticket yet??

There are less than 100 tickets left.  Still on the fence about going to WordCamp Denver?  Here are five reasons you have to buy your ticket right now, before they sell out:

1. Amazing Speakers You Won’t Find Anywhere Else

We received a ton of speaker applications this year and were able to choose some truly great speakers – with an emphasis on finding amazing talks that are not already on WordCamp.tv.  Whether you’re interested in learning more about design, development, business, or growth, we have an expert lined up to talk about it.

2. Interactive Sessions Where You Get YOUR Questions Answered

WordCamp Denver is more than just a conference where you shuffle from room to room listing to talks the organizers found interesting.  Yes, we have amazing talks that we’re sure you’ll love, but we also have a number of Town Halls planned on eCommerce, Growth/Marketing, Business, Development and Community Organizing.  The sixth town hall will take the form of a design critique modeled after the immensely successful “CritiquePress” we hosted last year in which attendees can get their websites critiqued in real-time.  The Town Hall format lets you ask the speakers a number of questions on a specific topic.  Is there something you need to know that will help your website or business succeed?  At WordCamp Denver, you can sit face-to-face with experts in a variety of areas and get answers to your questions.

3. You’re Invited to the Hallway Track

Everyone has heard about the unofficial third (or fourth or fifth) track at WordCamp – the hallway track where you can meet and connect with other attendees and speakers – but not everyone knows how to find it.  Sunday morning, join us for a Social Sidebar before the morning’s sessions start.  It’s like the hallway track to the max.  We’ll have some breakfast foods to nosh on, and selected speakers be manning designated Discussion Hubs for those who want to talk design, development, growth / marketing, business, or meetups. We’ll also have a business-free zone for those who would rather talk about scary clowns or cat videos.

4. The After Party

What’s a WordCamp without an after party?  Saturday evening after sessions end, join us for a fun night out in Denver.  This is where the real magic happens – meet and connect with someone new or hang out with an old friend.  We’re putting together something fun only for WordCamp attendees at Stem Ciders.  Stay tuned for more details, but rest assured this will be the perfect opportunity to kick back and talk shop with other people who understand just what it is that you do.

5. Cool WordPress Swag, Free Lunch, and an Awesome Location in Downtown Denver

Yes, this more than one reason, but limiting ourselves to just 5 reasons why you you can’t miss WordCamp Denver is way too hard!  November 5th and 6th is going to be an amazing weekend filled with all you could ask for in a conference and more, all for just $40.

Whether you’re a freelancer, a business owner who uses WordPress on a single website, or a professional designer/developer, there’s something at WordCamp for you.   There’s only a few tickets left and you don’t want to miss it!

Call for Volunteers

We’re hard at work planning for a great WordCamp and need your help!

Where Volunteers Are Needed

All WordCamps, in order to run smoothly, rely on a great team of volunteers who enjoy being involved in the WordPress community and spreading the WordPress love.  We’re looking for volunteers to help with everything from registration/check-in to serving as a room host or recording sessions (it’s as easy as pushing a button at the beginning of each talk!) to being present in our community lounge. If you’re willing to be a triage person – helping anywhere you’re needed (hopefully no medical skills necessary) – that’s even better!

Volunteers can help for an hour or two, or help out for the entire event.  Either way, you’ll be part of making WordCamp Denver great.

Volunteer Perks

Volunteering at a WordCamp is a great way to meet new and interesting people in the WordPress community.  You’ll get:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at how the WordCamp magic happens.
  • Recognition for your efforts – give us your Twitter handle and we’ll tweet a special “Thank You” shout out.
  • Free WordCamp admission.
  • A special volunteer badge so everyone at WordCamp knows how awesome you are.
